Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer flights under a private or commercial model?

We operate the aircraft from within a private membership model, within a private association under the Swiss civil code. We fly under EASA Part-NCO, private flight rules, however only with experienced, commercial pilots. This means that you benefit from the flexibility and efficiency of a private membership model, with the safety and performance of commercial pilots.

What is the pricing model?

There are three main components of the price of each flight - the flight hours (recorded to the nearest tenth of an hour from the aircraft flight counter), the airport charges (such as landing, parking, customs and handling fees), and the pilot (on a fixed day rate, plus other expenses if asked to remain overnight at the destination). These fees are transparent and estimates are provided in advance of any flight (estimated, as the flight time can vary with weather and wind conditions on the day).

How do I join?

Simply drop us an email, and we will send you a membership contract, the current members price list, and that's it!

How far in advance do I need to book?

Ideally, we would book you in as you become aware of your travel plans, even if you need to change them later on - there is no cost for change or cancellation for our members. Most airports can welcome us with prior notice of 24 hrs, and some even on the same day. The limiting factor is usually the legal conditions for customs notification in certain countries.

What is the Blue Turbine sweet spot?

In return for being one of the most fuel efficient turboprops on the market, our aircraft can accomodate only so much weight for passengers, luggage and fuel. Despite being a 6-seater, the real sweet spot is 2-3 passengers with luggage and flight time of up to 2.5 hrs. On longer flights this allows for less payload, and with more passengers or luggage means shorter flight time. This doesn't mean we can't get to destinations further away, only that it may involve a stop for fuel midway. At a certain number of passengers, it becomes more effective to choose any number of other operators with larger, more expensive aircraft.

Why Blue Turbine?

We only fly with experienced, commercial pilots, who have trained and operated for years in busy European airspace.

  • EASA Part-NCO flight operations
  • Aircraft safety managed under EASA CAMO
  • Strict Standard Operating Procedures
  • Flexible flight planning
  • Convenient destinations

Private Jets and CO2 - Time for a Turboprop, Elon?

I was enjoying listening to Kara Swisher and Prof Scott Galloway on their excellent Pivot Podcast the other day, when Kara confessed to her guilty pleasure of tracking the travels of celebs on the @celebjet Twitter bot (and the OG bot, @ElonJet). In a fit of equally voyeuristic pleasure, I headed on over and read up on the flight logs of Oprah, Jay-Z and Kylie Jenner...
